Every July 16th, L’Estartit enthusiastically celebrates the Feast of the Mare de Déu del Carme, the patron saint of sailors. This festivity, which blends devotion and culture, is one of the most anticipated events of the year, offering a unique experience for both locals and visitors at the Estartit Yacht Club.
The image of the Mare de Déu del Carme is adorned with flowers and, accompanied by a processional cross, the priest, musicians playing sardanas, and numerous participants, is carried in a procession from the Church of Santa Anna to the port. Once there, the Mare de Déu del Carme is embarked and continues her journey by sea, passing by the Medes Islands, weather permitting.

Tips to ensure the magic of la Mare de Déu del Carme
To ensure that the feast is conducted with the success and magic it deserves, it is crucial that all sailors follow good practices. Therefore, we call on all participants to follow these recommendations:
- Always sail behind the boat carrying the image of the Mare de Déu del Carme, and never overtake it, in order to pay proper homage to our patron saint.
- Follow the instructions of the port authorities and respect the established navigation zones to ensure the safety of all participants.
- The feast is a community event where we must all contribute to a safe and orderly celebration. For this reason, consideration towards all participants and visitors is essential to ensure a harmonious and festive atmosphere.
- It is also very important to keep our environment clean by not throwing waste into the sea and using the recycling points available at the port.

The feast de la Mare de Déu del Carme is an opportunity to celebrate the maritime tradition of L’Estartit and strengthen ties with the community and the sea. Participating with respect and responsibility will allow us to enjoy a magical and memorable celebration.
We invite all members and visitors to join this festivity, enjoying the music, culture, and beauty of our natural surroundings, while adhering to good practices that ensure a safe and sustainable celebration
