Over the course of two intense weeks, from 31 March to 4 April and from 7 to 11 April, the Centre d’Activitats of Club Nàutic Estartit hosted a new sailing course aimed at students from the Intermediate Vocational Training Programme in Guiding in the Natural Environment and Leisure Time (GUIAMN) of the Institut Montgrí.
A total of 29 students had the opportunity to experience, explore, and train through an activity plan focused on sailing. Accompanied by Joan Martí, the vocational training teacher, and the technicians of Club Nàutic Estartit, the students took part in 10 days of intensive training, sailing every morning and complementing the experience with theoretical sessions on land.
Learning from the sea, in real conditions
The training sessions ran from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., with a minimum of 3 hours of active sailing each day. The weather conditions, which varied throughout the days, allowed students to sail in all kinds of wind scenarios, enriching their training and helping future guides adapt to real-life situations. When the weather didn’t allow for sailing, the programme was adjusted to focus on the kayaking module, making the most of all the resources available at the club.
Each session combined theory and practice, with theoretical classes before and after each day at sea, to consolidate knowledge and learn from experience.

A well-established collaboration with shared values
From the Sailing School of the Centre d’Activitats, the assessment of this edition is very positive. The students’ strong commitment is highlighted, along with the valuable work of the Club’s team of instructors, and the quality of the facilities and training equipment used: light sailing boats and kayaks adapted for educational purposes.
Some students have shown such a high level of motivation that they have already begun their internships at the Club itself, a clear sign of the strength of this educational collaboration and its future potential.

Sailing is learning. And doing it at Club Nàutic Estartit, even more so
With this new edition, Club Nàutic Estartit reaffirms its commitment to education and to the transmission of the values of the nautical world: respect for the sea, shared effort, and a passion for experiential learning. We are proud to continue working alongside Institut Montgrí on this project, year after year, training guides who know the territory… from the sea.
